The motorcade took them down to Boston in a tight line of dark glass and radio static. Reporters had gathered by the revolving doors at Vance Global before noon, shoulder to shoulder behind the rope. Cameras snapped when Elliot stepped out. Naomi came behind him with Bella tucked against her, Bella chewing on her thumb and staring at the lights.

Inside, the elevator rose in silence.

Lucas waited on the board floor with a legal pad in one hand and a tense line at his mouth. “They’ve already got counsel in the room.”

“Good,” Elliot said. “Let them hear this twice.”

Lucas glanced at Naomi and Bella, then back at Elliot. “You sure?”

Elliot reached for Bella’s shoe strap and fixed it with shaking fingers.

“I’m sure,” he said.

The elevator chimed. The boardroom doors waited ahead, shut and bright, and behind them was the first hard fight for the life he meant to keep.

The boardroom doors shut behind Elliot with a soft click.

Glass, chrome, and a table long enough to land a plane on. Camille sat three seats down in white wool, hands folded, face arranged for cameras that were not here. Richard Rhodes had a legal pad in front of him and a smile that did not reach his eyes. Eleanor stood at the windows, winter-straight, looking over Boston like she already owned the skyline.

Naomi came in with Bella on her hip.

No one moved.

Bella wore a red sweater and tiny shoes. Her hand clutched Naomi’s collar. Her eyes went to the long table, then to Elliot, and stayed there.

Lucas slid into the seat beside Elliot and pushed a folder across the glass. “Proxy chain, short positions, and the injunction draft. We move now.”

Richard adjusted his tie. “This is a private family matter. The board should not be involved.”

“It became a board matter when you tried to weaponize it,” Lucas said.

Eleanor did not look at Naomi. “You were told to stay out of the company’s business.”

Naomi’s fingers tightened around Bella’s back. “I’m here because my child’s name is in your papers.”

Elliot opened the folder. Inside were printouts, account trails, and a set of emails marked with dates and brokerage stamps. His jaw locked. He turned the pages, faster and faster.

Lucas tapped one page. “They built the short through three shells, then timed the leak. The stock drops, the merger terms wobble, and Rhodes picks up the wreck.”

Richard gave a short laugh. “Careful. That sounds accusatory.”

“It is,” Elliot said.

He stood. The chair legs scraped once across the floor. Everyone at the table watched him, even the lawyers at the far end.

“My father’s shares are not your toy,” he said. “Neither are mine.”

Camille’s mouth tightened. “Elliot, if you care about any of this, you’ll think before you humiliate us.”

He looked at her. “You tried to buy my daughter out of my life.”

The room went still.

Elliot reached into the folder and pulled out one sheet, then another. “I’m referring this to counsel and regulators before lunch. Arthur Sterling is on speaker in ten seconds, and you can all hear the retainer.”

Lucas put the call on the table. The line rang once.

Arthur answered on the second ring. “Tell me you’re ready to burn the place down.”

“I’m ready to protect my family,” Elliot said. His hands shook once, then steadied on the tabletop. “Ten million. Immediate engagement. Custody, injunction response, board action. I want paper in motion before they do.”

A chair moved. Richard’s smile broke. Eleanor turned from the window.

Arthur gave a low sound that might have been amusement. “Send the file. I’ll have filings drafted in an hour.”

Richard stood halfway. “You cannot just threaten the board and expect—”

Elliot cut him off. “I already own enough voting control to stop your move. The rest goes public if you keep talking.”

Bella made a small noise and reached for the folder. Naomi shifted her lower hand, and Bella settled against her shoulder, thumb in her mouth.

Eleanor stared at Naomi, then at the child, as if she were trying to find the seam where the truth had been stitched in.

Elliot gathered the papers, one stack at a time, and tucked them under his arm.

“Meeting over,” he said.

No one stopped him when he walked out with Naomi and Bella.
