The thick binder hit the desk with a dull thump. Daniel Reyes folded his manicured hands flat on the polished walnut.

“The external auditors finished their work at six o’clock,” Daniel said. “This is the complete text.”

Logan pulled the four-hundred-page dossier closer. A yellow tab marked the summary section near the back.

The financial balance sheets showed strong quarterly growth across every primary sector. Yet two hundred pages of recorded interviews documented forty-two frontline proposals buried by divisional managers. Marcus Pruitt had claimed credit for three separate software revisions built by junior developers, pocketing full executive bonuses for work he never touched.

“The revenue numbers look stable on paper,” Logan said.

“The numbers conceal a structural drain,” Daniel replied. “The audit details six forced resignations tied directly to administrative threats over the last year alone.”

Logan turned the plain wedding band on his ring finger. Outside the thirty-fourth floor glass, streetlights flickered against the autumn fog.

“Rebecca Collins signed every quarterly review,” Logan said.

“She authorized the severance agreements that bought their silence,” Daniel said. “She protected the executive suite by discarding the workers who kept the real operations running.”

Logan turned to the final page. The lead auditor had printed a single conclusion across the bottom margin: Systemic Institutional Intimidation.

“The board members receive their sealed copies in thirty minutes,” Daniel said. “We hold quorum for an eight o’clock vote tomorrow morning.”

“Thank you, Daniel,” Logan said.

“Does your course remain clear?” Daniel asked.

“The report gives us only one honorable path forward,” Logan said.

Daniel nodded once, gathered his dark coat, and exited the quiet room, shutting the heavy door behind him.

Logan sat alone in the dark office as the wall clock chimed twelve times. He closed the thick binder, knowing the morning vote would change the company forever.
